Working as a caregiver is more than just a job — it is an opportunity to support independence, improve quality of life, and bring comfort to families who need reliable care for their loved ones.

Our caregivers provide essential support with daily living activities such as mobility assistance, personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, shopping, and companionship. These services allow seniors to continue living safely and comfortably in their own homes.

Through programs supported by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, many caregivers can also receive payment for providing care to qualified individuals through Michigan’s Home Help Program.

At Ally Home Help Care, we are committed to supporting our caregivers with training, guidance, and flexible opportunities so they can build a rewarding career in home care.

Who Is Eligible to Become a Paid Caregiver?

Michigan Family Caregiver Payment Eligibility

  • Live in Michigan

To participate as a caregiver, you must be a resident of the State of Michigan and able to provide care within the state.

  • Medicaid Eligibility and Program Requirements

The person receiving care must qualify for Medicaid and meet the eligibility requirements of Michigan’s Home Help Program. This program allows eligible individuals to receive assistance with daily living activities while remaining safely in their homes.

  • Have an Eligible Family Member or Friend to Care For

Under Michigan’s Home Help Program, caregivers cannot be the spouse of the patient or the parent of a patient under the age of 18. However, other relatives, friends, or trusted individuals may qualify to provide care. This program allows families to receive the support they need while ensuring their loved ones receive care from someone they trust.

Get Paid to Care For Loved Ones

Through Ally Home Help Care, caregivers can provide support to individuals they care about while receiving professional guidance and compensation. Below are some examples of relationships that may qualify.

Elderly Parents

Caring for aging parents is one of the most meaningful ways to give back to those who have cared for you. As a caregiver, you can help them maintain independence, safety, and comfort while continuing to live at home. Support may include assistance with daily routines, mobility, meal preparation, and companionship.

Children with Disabilities

Parents or guardians caring for children with disabilities may need additional support to manage daily activities and ensure their child receives the proper care. Caregivers help provide structured support, supervision, and daily assistance that helps improve quality of life.

Spouses - Not Eligible

Under the Michigan Home Help Program guidelines, spouses are not eligible to receive payment as caregivers for their partners. However, other family members or trusted individuals may qualify to provide care services.

Relatives

Many relatives such as siblings, adult children, cousins, or extended family members may qualify to serve as caregivers under Michigan’s program. This allows families to provide care while receiving financial support for the assistance they provide.

Neighbors and Trusted Friends

Close friends or neighbors who regularly help with caregiving may also qualify. Many seniors prefer receiving care from someone they already trust and feel comfortable with. These caregivers provide important support with daily tasks, companionship, and household assistance.
